1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Brown Gravy

3 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meatloaf

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until just combined.

Shape into a loaf and place in a lightly greased baking dish or loaf pan.

Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Step 2: Make the Mashed Potatoes

While the meatloaf bakes, place potatoes in a large pot and cover with salted water.

Bring to a boil and cook for 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.

Drain well and mash with butter, warm milk, heavy cream, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.

Keep warm.

Step 3: Prepare the Gravy

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.

Gradually whisk in beef broth. Add Worcestershire sauce and onion powder.

Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until thick and silky.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Serve

Slice the meatloaf and arrange beside a generous serving of mashed potatoes.

Ladle warm brown gravy over both the meatloaf and potatoes.

Serve immediately with dinner rolls or your favorite vegetables.

Tips

✅ Don’t overmix the meatloaf to keep it tender.
✅ Let the meatloaf rest before slicing to retain its juices.
✅ Yukon Gold potatoes create extra-creamy mashed potatoes.
